A premium implant line from Korean manufacturer MegaGen, designed to restore both chewing function and the appearance of missing teeth. From diagnosis through final prosthetic restoration, every stage is personally planned by DIAN’s Chief Director.
■ Procedure Overview Dental implant treatment involves placing an artificial tooth root into the jawbone where a tooth is missing, then attaching an abutment and prosthetic restoration to restore chewing function and dental alignment. This treatment uses a premium implant line manufactured by MegaGen Implant in Korea. Established in 2002 and headquartered in Daegu, MegaGen Implant exports its products to approximately 100 countries. According to the manufacturer, MegaGen’s major implant systems incorporate XPEED surface-treatment technology, which applies calcium ions to the implant surface to support integration with the bone, and a KnifeThread design with blade-shaped threads intended to enhance initial stability at placement. At DIAN, implant treatment is not viewed simply as filling an empty space. The direction of chewing forces, harmony with adjacent teeth and the gumline, and the appearance of the smile are all considered when planning the implant position and shape of the final restoration. DIAN offers both MegaGen and DIO implant lines. The most appropriate manufacturer and specific implant model are determined after assessing the amount and density of the jawbone and the planned implant site. ■ Who May Be a Suitable Candidate - Patients missing one or more teeth - Patients who prefer not to reduce healthy adjacent teeth for a dental bridge - Patients who find removable dentures uncomfortable or unstable - Patients who want the shape and shade of the restoration to blend naturally with surrounding teeth - Patients who prefer a premium implant line ■ When Another Approach May Be Recommended - Insufficient jawbone: Bone grafting or sinus lift surgery may be required before or at the same time as implant placement. - Active periodontal disease: Implant placement should follow completion of periodontal treatment. - Uncontrolled diabetes: Poorly controlled blood sugar can interfere with osseointegration, so treatment should proceed after the condition is stabilized. - Use of osteoporosis medication: Patients taking or receiving bisphosphonate medications must inform the clinic in advance. - Difficulty stopping smoking: Smoking increases the risk of failed osseointegration. - Adolescents who have not completed facial and jaw growth - Patients able to visit Korea only once: Alternative restorative options that may be completed within the available schedule should also be considered. ■ Treatment Duration and Recommended Stay Implant treatment cannot normally be completed in a single visit. After the artificial tooth root is placed, an osseointegration period of approximately 3–6 months is required for the implant to integrate with the bone. The final prosthetic restoration is then fabricated and attached. For patients traveling from overseas, treatment is generally planned across two visits: First visit: Diagnosis and implant placement, followed by a stay of approximately 5–7 days for postoperative monitoring and suture removal before departure Second visit: After osseointegration, a stay of approximately 7–10 days for fabrication and placement of the final prosthetic restoration The overall treatment period may be longer if bone grafting or sinus lift surgery is required. Swelling and discomfort may continue for approximately 3–5 days after implant placement. Soft foods are recommended during this period. ■ Cost Information The listed price applies to one implant. If the jawbone is insufficient, the following procedures may be added based on the diagnostic findings: - Bone grafting per tooth: KRW 360,000 - Additional bone grafting: KRW 240,000 - Crestal sinus lift, including bone grafting: KRW 600,000 - Lateral-window sinus lift, including bone grafting: KRW 960,000 Whether additional treatment is necessary can only be determined after CT evaluation. The total estimated cost will be explained before treatment begins ■ DIAN’s Approach to Care - Consultation, implant placement, and prosthetic treatment are personally managed by our Chief Director. - Panoramic X-rays and CT imaging are used to assess jawbone volume, nerve location, implant position, and the design of the final restoration. - Consultations and treatment are provided in private rooms. - Consultations are available in English, and DIAN is registered as a medical institution authorized to serve international patients.
