A thin layer of the front tooth surface is prepared and covered with a custom-made ceramic veneer to improve tooth color, shape, and proportion. Each veneer is designed to complement the patient’s facial features and smile line.
■ Procedure Overview Porcelain veneer treatment is a cosmetic restorative procedure in which a thin layer of the front surface of a tooth is prepared and covered with a custom-made ceramic shell. It can improve tooth color and shape and close or reduce gaps between teeth. At DIAN, there is no single predetermined standard of “white, perfectly straight teeth.” The dentist considers the patient’s facial shape, lip line, the proportion of teeth visible when smiling, and the gumline to create a color and shape that complement the patient’s natural appearance. The amount of tooth preparation varies depending on the condition of each tooth. DIAN’s approach is to remove only the amount of tooth structure necessary for the planned result. ■ Who May Be a Suitable Candidate - Patients with discoloration that is unlikely to improve sufficiently with teeth whitening - Patients with gaps between their front teeth - Patients with chipped or worn front teeth of uneven length - Patients whose teeth vary in size or shape, creating an uneven smile line - Patients who want to improve the appearance of their front teeth within a relatively short period without orthodontic treatment ■ When Another Approach May Be Recommended - Significant tooth misalignment or protrusion: Orthodontic treatment should be considered first. - Severe teeth grinding or clenching: The risk of veneers chipping or detaching may be higher, so a protective appliance or another restorative option may also need to be considered. - Tooth decay or gum inflammation: These conditions should be treated before veneer treatment begins. - Limited remaining tooth structure or a large existing restoration: A dental crown may be more appropriate. - When tooth color is the only concern: Teeth whitening, which does not require tooth preparation, may be recommended first. - Patients who do not want their natural teeth prepared: Tooth preparation is irreversible, and the removed tooth structure cannot be restored to its original condition. ■ Treatment Duration and Recommended Stay Treatment usually requires 2–3 visits. During the first visit, the dentist performs an examination and design consultation, prepares the teeth, takes impressions or digital scans, and places temporary restorations. After a fabrication period of approximately one week, the final ceramic veneers are bonded to the teeth. For patients traveling from overseas, a stay of approximately 7–10 days is recommended. If gumline correction or gum contouring is also required, additional healing time may be necessary for the gum tissue to stabilize. Please discuss your available schedule when booking. ■ Cost Information The listed price applies to one tooth and does not include VAT. The number of teeth treated is determined during consultation based on the teeth visible when smiling and the patient’s desired result. If gumline correction is required, gingivectomy or gum-contouring treatment is available for an additional KRW 120,000 per tooth, excluding VAT. ■ DIAN’s Approach to Care - Our Chief Director personally manages the process from design consultation through final bonding. - Tooth color and shape are planned according to their harmony with the face and lip line, rather than assessing the teeth in isolation. - Consultations and treatment are provided in private rooms. - Consultations are available in English, and DIAN is registered as a medical institution authorized to serve international patients.
